Snails can live with goldfish, however plecos cannot. They will suck the slime coat off the goldies for some reason. They attach to them. That is why algae eaters are not recommended top keep with goldies.
Plus plecos are warm water fish.

Pleco + snails = no
Pleco + goldies = no
Snails + goldies = not recommended, but can be done.
the goldies usually spend their time trying ot eat the snail's antennae, which stresses them out waaay too much. but, as I said, it can be done. Just watch the fish and the snails carefully, especially as the goldies get bigger and stronger.
And snails like water with a pH of 7-8.2 and a temp of around 75 degrees.

You can keep bristle nose and rubbernose plecos with goldfish and snails but not what is classified as the "common" pleco the reason is they will suck on the goldies slime coat. Rubbernose and bristlenose plecos are tropical fish but can live in the cooler waters that a goldfish lives is in.

I think it depends upon your goldfish's level of aggression when it comes to the snails. My goldfish has never even given my snails a second look. The real problems I see with keeping snails is that with anything there is always a risk in adding something new to your stable tank environment, your ability to treat your goldfish is impaired as snails are very sensitive to medication, many snails cannot tolerate aquarium salt which can be beneficial to your fish.
Mine, though, have lived in salted waters and thrived. I'm assuming some snails are just more sensitive than others though.
I believe this all pertains to mystery snails, not sure about the others. [:

It really mainly depends on the temperament of the fish/snail. Bt generally, Plecs and Goldies = NONO.

Unless they are bristle nose plecs then you are fine
