They compare it to a bad wasp sting. The best way to stop it is to pea on it to and I am sure you have heard of them doing that.

Feb 21 2008, 05:23 PM
Yea they do the same thing with an urchin sting. They are neat little animals to keep in an aquarium though, I actually have some of the dwarf varieties in my tank that came as hitchhickers with my LR.

By chance is that a porcelain crab? We bought one last weekend for our marine tank. Pretty cool little crab, eats constantly!

Thats an emerald. I don't have any decorator because they like to move stuff around. I have like 6 emerald crabs.

I thought porcelain crabs are filter feeders... isn't that why they have those fan-like gills?

I think PomPom crabs are the only filter feeders.

Kewl, they were out of emerald crabs so I got a porcelain crab but unfortunately he is MIA.

Wondering if he is hiding out or the Red Eye Squirrel had a snack? Since they love crustaceans I am concerned. Nah, the crab would give him some serious pinches. Or not?
Kuli_Loach
Feb 23 2008, 05:36 AM
He was prob. a snack unless you have lot's of hiding places for him. I don't get anything that eats crustaceans for that reason.

I feel terrible for making such an obvious mistake.
We did a water change last night and rearranged rocks as we had 12 more pounds we wanted to add. No crab.

55 gallon with @ 80 pounds of live rock. Most purchased from a specialty fs, some from a friends tank that had feather dusters attached-sweet!
Cured? Not sure what you mean...

I ordered mine straight from the ocean. Mine comes with a LOT of stuff on it. My rock never left the water until I put it in my tank. That is why I have a lot of that cactus looking algae and such.
