My rescue chinese algae eater Ish along with his buddy Fin and the other ones might get a new bigger tank soon!!!! I hate keeping them in the overstocked/underfiltered tub, hopefully my mom will buy it for me! Poor little Ishie hides all day and theres no light at all in the tub, they have to live in complete darkness, they like it ofcourse cause any movement scares them half to death, the dark seems to make them feel safer, but then i'll add more plants and get 2 more tetras to hopefully make them feel more at home. And best of all they'll have a stronger filter if I get the tank I want!!!!

around 21 gallons, currently they r in 12 gallons, both r too small for a chinese algae eater I know but he's already a little stunted cause he came from a dirty overcrowded 5 gallon tank when I rescued him from our school tank, Fin was in that tank too, there was another algae eater but Ish ate him

dont have it yet. But maybe...just maybe i'll get it this weekend. My report card was good so my mom is going to buy it for me, which one I get depends on how much money she's willing to spend. The one I first wanted was too expensive for $300 now i've found a similar one in the same store for $200

What do you plan on getting for $200. $200 could buy a 75 Gallon tank and iron stand.

oh not where I live! here 20 gallons with stand r 150-300 dollars, 75 gallon with stand costs around $1000 here. The $300 tank is 21 gallons and comes with canopy, stand, and filter and a bunch of other stuff, the other one is pretty much the same just different style tank and stand so Im probably getting that one, and I think it might b a different size, I dont remeber wether it was 20 gallons or more, but yeah fish supplies r expensive here, especially tanks and stand. the cheapest i've seen anywhere here is bare 10 gallons for $15 but I dont need one of those.

Why not try getting a used tank?

I have never considered buying a tank, stand combo. They cost too much and you get a bunch of stuff that I don't want or need. The tank, stand combos come with a wood stand usaully made of partical board. Partical board is junk and will fall apart over time. If you want a wood stand get solid pine or oak. Solid pine is good. Oak is best.
Iron stands aren't as pretty as wood but they're cheaper and you can put two aquariums on it. Something small like a 20-30 gallon aquarium can be put on a dresser. Or if you want a cheap stand you can make one out of cement blocks. All the extra stuff I would only want what I want and not all the junk they have in the combo.

I agree with FishCrazy!!!!! See if you can get a used tank first before you go spending big $$$ for a new tank. You can get real good deals sometimes. Check the classifieds section of your local newspaper, that might provide some results. Or you might consider putting in a classifieds wanted ad?

there r no used tanks for sale in this area, i've checked everywhere! The tank I want comes with a good filter and a nice stand, looks pretty good quality and stable to me. All my stands r wood and with the actual aquarium stand I have they always came with the tank and work great.
