My anubias had only 2 leaves left because of damage from when I brought it home, I had to take one of them off today because it had turned yellow, now it only has 1 left. I've exposed pretty much all the roots now and added some more seachem flourish. The fish r picking at it all the time, maybe that could b the cause, I dunno. The good news I have is that its growing some new roots, I guess that would b a good sign. My anacharis in my 46 gallon is almost completely dead too thanks to Trigger ripping it apart leaf by leaf, it has no leaves left and they pull it out of the gravel every day, so far i've lost about 14 inches of anacharis thanks to that crazy fish! There is about 1 cm of hornwort left also thanks to Trigger, that fish just never leaves them alone!!

What is the wattage per gallon and size of the tank? Anubias and Anarcharis are both medium to high light plants

46 gallon has 40 watts of light, 125 gallon also has 40 watts. The anacharis was growing great until Trigger started ripping it apart, its started regrowing but Trigger ripped off the new growth

. I read on many sites that anubias does well in any tank no matter how stong or low the light is. Maybe Im just cursed with bad luck or maybe some very destructive fish!

It depends on the specific type of anubias. I had 2 types of Anubias and some Anacharis in my 70 gal. After they had eaten or uprooted the Anacharis they started on the soft-leaved (with rather long pointed leaves) Anubias. They have never even touched my Hard-leaved Anubias, even when it was the only plant left in the tank. This one has rather broad leaves and is a lot darker green than the other. I think the leaves of the last one are to hard to bite true for gf, even for very big and distructive ones (like my Godzilla).
I don't know the exact name, but this is the one they never touched. The red stuff is algea, as I have some algeaproblems in my tank

I cant see the pic on this computer i'll check it later, I have the one with the oval shaped leaves and they dont touch the leaves they just go at the roots which is what I think may have caused a break in one of the stems which might b why the one leaf died, it was starting to fall off so I took it off incase it had some kind of disease, wouldnt want it to spread!

Anubias is a med to highlight plant your 46 and 125 gal tank have less than 1 watt per gallon so you actually have extremely low light that is why your anubias will not grow. No plant that i know of will grow without 1watt per gal minimum.

Dan,
I though Anubia is a low light plant.(I even got one in my QT) But I am not 100% sure though.

It will live in low light Fred but not grow as quickly as it would with medium lighting. Shamu's is dyeing as she has less than 1 watt per gallon. which is the minimum amount of light to sustain plant life

I've read about anubias surviving with almost no light

why r plants so confusing?? Good news though, its growing new roots rather quickly actually and its last leaf is starting to get back some color. Maybe i'll get stronger lightbulbs or something sometime soon. But yesterday my shubbie ripped off a root and they were all trying to eat it!!!

If it is doing okay then i would just leave it alone maybe do a spot dose of ferts for a week. The dosage is 2.5ml and it needs to be released over the plant you are fertilizing

my fish ripped off almost all roots except 3 I think and broke off most of the rhizome or whatever its called

they never stop!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do u think they'd leave java fern alone?
btw the plant is still alive but the part with the leaf has only 1 TINY root, or they might've ripped that off too

The roots will grow back very slowly but they they will grow back. It depends some fish will rip Java fern apart others will not. I suppose it would not hurt to try it.
