I have a 14 gallon tank with 5 Comets and 1 Pleco. I give my Comets their regular food but at night I give the Pleco his algea wafer for him, but everytime I put it in the water the Comets eat the algea wafer and I am worried that the Pleco is not eating. How do I get the Comets from eating the algea wafer???
14 gallons is too small for 5 comets. They either need a pond or 100+ gallon tank.
If you have a common pleco then he could potentially turn on your goldies for food. Not to mention he could grow up to be 20 inches long. He alone would need about 40 gallons of water to be happy. I keep my adult in a 46 gallon with one striped raphael catfish.
Right now the best thing to do is remove the pleco and put him in his own tank to eat. Plecos really aren't good with goldfish because goldfish always eat their food.
