There are now 4. Different sized/shaped sinking pellets for different size fish.
The newest pack is red and is for small fish over 2cm. (The blue one is for fry)
I like this food because it contains probiotics/lactobacteria.
All four.

Does anyone else use this food?

i have some of the purple one, but I havent seen it for sale around here. Might have a look online, as I know it is a good food. Do you think it will help to use it after using med food?? just wondering.
I do find it to be quite small though.

Oooh, I'll be looking around for that one! o:

Our Hikari pellets look nothing like that. Hmmm, thats interesting how they change the packaging. [:

Its a different type of Hikari food, the Lionhead and Oranda packets are still the same, if that is what you are referring to earth!mother.

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up. biggrin.gif
I've never seen this kind in stores.
In fact the pet store closest to me only carries the Oranda type.
This probiotic food seems like it could really help out, though...Especially since Athena had been sick left and right.

I think you can get the Saki Hikari on ebay. Dont know if any shops sell it where you live, im from the UK.
I only have some that was freebies from a LFS. I do like what it has in it, could be good for feeding once a week or something, not sure if that is how it is supposed to be though.
My LFS has only just started selling Hikari food, but no goldie ones though! I have to go to a not so local store to get mine, I prefer the lion head variety though, as it sinks

The lactobacillus (think that's the right one) in probiotic food is supposed to help after med food yes. But only for as long as you feed it.
There doesn't seem to be any evidence for it settling in there and creating its own colonies for lifelong intestinal protection though..

Your fish always look so fabulous Claire, what do you feed them? I don't only use this product, about twice a week they get this one smile.gif

The size of the pellet I used to really wonder about. 2 of my fish are really large now and their open mouths are as large as small coins ohmy.gif so I did wonder about the tiny size of these pellets. But then I started thinking about this. Why do I want large pellets that might be harder to digest and what is wrong with tiny pieces, if you just feed more of them, they will still get the same and may be less prone to sbd/stomach bloat because the food is "chopped up small" for them..that's just what I have convinced myself anyway biggrin.gif

EarthMother- I didn't know the packaging was any different elsewhere. The packet color Claire says is the same, so maybe just the writing?

Well, in Sweden we don't have these, I suppose. Only the Koi mini, medium and large.

And baby.

This is what I use.

I'd like to see a pic of Swedish fish food with Swedish writing biggrin.gif !!!

Thank you for the compliment, Mine get a variety really, flakes occasionally, Hikari Lionhead, Hikari Oranda (when I can be bothered squeezing the air out!), Gel food by Tetra-Bloodworms, Shrimp, or Daphina (sp), froozen bloodworms, peas, lettuce. I think that is it! lol.

I just ask because Bluey is having meds at the moment (isnt looking too great, might start a topic in D&D, got a couple of qs), I know you can get Jump start, so does that have similar things in?
If it is the case that the probiotics dont create a colony, then you would have to incorporate it into your daily feed?

Yer my Mysti has the biggest mouth, and the others arent far behind. What you say makes a lot of sense, the smaller it is the easier to eat, except it probably would touch the sides!

The packets that I get have both english and Japanese writing on.
