My Alga sucker is just staying in one plave on the glass. The other side, front and back are getting alot of alga on it. Shouldn't he go to those places and eat the alga.

P.S. I went to a pet store and there was some alga sucker food. Do i need to feed him.

OMG

Yes you need to feed him! He won't eat algae forever (is he a plec?) as they don't get enough nutrition from this.

I suggest you read through other posts on this and see if they answer your question before I go off on one.

(Do you have any live plants?)

Well, there's no way that I know of to "make" them eat the algae off a certain area....but it is a thought! Ha! If someone knows how to train a pleco to eat algae on command, I wanna know about it! LOL! lol.GIF

Yes, you do need to feed them....sinking algae wafers are good, so are fresh veggies like cucumber, squash, zuchinni.....but you will have to use something to keep the veggies submerged. I use a small piece of slate and a rubber band is used to hold the veggies to the slate.
You will also need to make sure there is a piece of driftwood in the tank too. Many species require the wood in their diet.

Do you know what kind of algae eater you have?

Can you describe what he looks like (as in colour, pattern) for me so I can try and find out what he is? Or could you get a picture? Have you looked for any information on him? If so, what did you get?

Cheers

OK, you have got yourself a common plec.

They get to be 12" but that would take a bit of time. Also, he may not eat algae for long, plecs usually grow out of this but perhaps commons don't. You will need to get him some food, plec tablets are good and unless he's active by day, you will need to feed him when the light is off. As well as making aure that he has some shelter, like under wood or a cave sort of thing.

Try www.planetcatfish.com 's cat-eLog. They have loads more information on there.
