I got some mail order supplies yesterday and I included a small order of net soak to see what it's all about. But something seems weird. It says to soak your nets and algae sponges in it, BUT then it says in bold that you should not get it in your tank water blink.gif Is this a safe product? Especially for my algae sponges, since they're going to really absorb it.

I have no clue... what chemical is in it?

I do not use nets and I just dump my algae pads into the main bleach bucket with the hoses and syphons and such after every use.

What is a net soak? blink.gif

A liquid disinfectant that you soak your used nets in to make sure they carry no disease or parasites from one use to another.

Now that I have it I think it's more for commercial pet stores where nets are always being used. I was looking more for some type of fish-safe cleaner. The ingredients are Benzalkonium chloride and Methylene blue.

You probably want to give it a good rinse like you would if you're bleaching your equipment. Better safe than sorry. smile.gif

Yeah, that's what it's used for, it's to stop cross-contamination between tanks to reduce the amount of stock lost to disease, we used it in the aquarium I worked in, we used to make up a big bucket of the stuff behind the counter that we kept all the nets and scrubbers in, we used to replace it every day/every other day. I don't think the tiny amount that's already been diluted that's left on the nets is enough to harm the fish. I'm not sure about using it as a fish friendly cleaner though, you may end up with too much of it ending up in your tank. unsure.gif

That's what I'm thinking too. I'm going to use it every once in a while on my sponges though, I have a hard time getting them clean. I think I'll do a lot of rinsing when I take them out of the soak, just to be safe.
