I noticed something different from the ordinary in my tropical tank today. My glo-lite tetras that are normally shy, stay at the bottom and don't swim around too much, are very active all of a sudden. 2 of them have red lines that are brighter than usual, and the rest are duller than usual. The dull ones are chasing the brighter ones and nudging them as though trying to mate. I even saw one of them try to chase one of my danios! That's never happened before.
I've never had these fish before, so I just want to know if this is normal, and if it is indeed breeding behavior. Water params are fine (0,0,10), temp is at 75, and all the rest of the fish are acting the same as usual.

I saw them at wallyworld last week and almost got some. Isn't this a newly introduced breed that was created to show up chemicals and pollution in water? I remember reading about them but not exactly what it said. I'd think they'd behave like normal tetras though.

No I think you're talking about the glo-fish, those are the genetically modified colored danios. Id like to have some of those some day.
Nah, my fish are tetras... theyre darkish colored with the red line down the middle (so kinda like the neon tetra without the blue color).

Oh. OK, that was them, then. I just remembered they had "glo" in the name and it was a newly introduced fish breed. I wanted some but I was kind of leery about them. Very pretty though.
