I just stopped into an lfs to see what fish they had when I noticed a big red sign saying 'sale'...now who can resist that? Anyway, I got an Aquaclear 100 for THIRTY BUCKS! It was clearance because it had an 'old box' rolleyes.gif I thought that was an amazing deal. Now for my question..what to do with all my filters?

Right now I have an aquaclear 50 and a penguine biowheel (20?) on my 30 gallon tank. I was thinking of replacing the biowheel with the new aquaclear. That will mean I'll have a 50 and 100 running, not sure how much filtration that is but I know it will be lots biggrin.gif
I've told people before that there's no such thing as too much filtration, but will that be too much current? I was thinking maybe I could turn the flow down on the 100, not sure. I'm super excited, I can fit so much more media in the new filter!!!

I just looked at the box, I'll be getting 450gallon/h filtration if I go with the 2 aquaclears...opinions?? anyone? I'm dying to install this puppy! biggrin.gif

You can slow down the flow from the aquaclear somewhat, so it isn' too harsh on the occupants. Or you can arrange any bigger decor that you have right under the outflow, so it breaks it up as well. Or stuff some white filter flossing right at the edge of the outflow, that will also help.
So, you have one sad, lonely Biowheel filter now? I wonder what you can do with that one.... bubbles.gif

Well I have the two aquaclears running on one side of my tank so the goldies can go to the other side and chill out. They don't seem to mind the increased flow at all biggrin.gif

As for the biowheel...I replaced the internal fluval I had in my tropical tank with it. I really hated that fluval, whenever I opened it gunk sprayed my face, and it was a bit of an eyesore in the tank. However.......it can stil be used in another tank I'm sure, if I wanted to set one up...... rolleyes.gif
