We recently moved north to a new state, and it was fairly long drive. I had put Rajaion on the floor of my car to keep him safe. But it was very cold outside, and the cold seeped through the floor, even though I was running the heat. As a result, when we made it to our destination his water was icy cold! Almost all the color had drained out of him, and he was very lethargic. I immediately took his bag and placed in the goldfish bowl (it was just a temporary place for them to be over night!). I had hopes that the goldie's water would help warm up the betta water. By morning Rajaion had perked up a bit, and the color was starting to come back. Now, several weeks later, he appears happy, healthy, and full o vibrant color! The downside is that the cold gave him a little frostbite, and the tips of his fins and tail were frozen off. He looks a little ragged, but I think the fins are repairing themselves. I have been adding a little salt with every water change, and I have been treating him with Melafix to ward off infection. I hope his fins can grow back to their former splendor!

Oh the poor guy! I'm sure with enough care his fins will grow back. Who would have thought the car floor would get that cold?

sorry to hear what happened to your little guy. It sounds like he got frostbite. Keep up the melafix and salt like you mentioned and he should heal up

Thanks for the well-wishes. I think his fins are looking a little better already, though his tail was pretty bad and will probably take a while to grow back completely. He's still my handsome little dragon
