okay so i have my ten gallon set up and letting it cycle for a day before adding my mollies, but i have a question.

mollies are sort of brackish fish, and need a tablespoon of salt for every five gallons. can platies stand this or should i leave them with my goldies in the big tank and let my two mollies have the ten gallon to themselves?

Im pretty sure the platies can withstand it.

Yea, I don't think there will be a problem.

you dont need to put that much of salt if you dont want to, just add conditioner to water, abit of salt. Let it ages. Sometime to much salt can be abit stressful for little fish, and remember unless doing water change dont add more because salt doesn't evaporate away. Platty will be okay with it if your mollies can. Also to much salt can burn your aquatic plants

i think i'll just keep it with one tablespoon, then add my fish tomorrow, and after a week or so of water changes, since my tank is cycling, i'll add more. hopefully all of them will be happy.

thanks guy =]

my parents and sister are still pestering me about putting the platys and mollys in the smaller tank, and leaving the larger one to my three goldfish.

i told them each goldfish needs their own ten gallon if i were going to do it that way, but they still insist that there are fewer of them so they should go into the smaller tank.

ahh.

I udnerstand how you feel, my family is the same, and it's really a headache trying to tell them what goldfish need, and they just completely ignore it and continue on tellign what I should do -_____-''
