I remember seeing these 'Hanging Spider' plants in pots suspended from the cieling at the library when i went to school, and i thought it was amazing, how they reproduced by putting out a 'tentacle' where a new plant would grow from.

Well now i have this plant in my tank that does the exact same thing.

What is it?

It grows incredibly fast under the incandescant light im using, and contrary to my pland-goldfish belies, the [live] plant and the goldfish are thriving together.

I bought it for pretty cheaply (here in Canada) and its extensively taking root in the pebble substrate that i got from the garden store.

Again: What plant do i have?

I wish I knew. My goldies just finished off my sword, but do not enjoy the Anachris that is currently there.

I'm attempting to fill my tank with more plants so I am as intrigued as you are to know what you have.

Spider Plants are one of my favourite houseplants! I REALLY want one for my aquarium. I'm going to ask around to try to ID it, but if not, can you get a picture or something?

I'm also from Canada, what store did you get it from? I'm in the Toronto area.

Thanks

oooooh! i love spider plants too. does anybody know if they are safe to use with goldies or tropicals? could that really be what eevay arollay has in his tank? if it is able to live submerged under water and actually thrive, then all you would have to do is keep one on hand to transfer "spiderlings" to the aquarium. i do hope somebody knows because i may try it out in my hospital tank soon!
