Hello.
Its been a long time hasn't it?
Well my male common killed my two other goldfish yesterday. It was horrible. He now has an unusual bubble-ish thing on his head and a bruised lip.
I will most likely be taking him to the pet store tomorrow. I have a feeling he got to territorial in my 46 gallon. I believe his chances at the pet store are good. The store specializes in large exotic fish and reptiles. The adult goldfish they get always "fly off the shelves." I just can't deal with a homicidal goldfish.
With all that said I would like to get a low maintenance fish or two. I was thinking about getting an adult common pleco. My LFS, where I will be taking Heechul, has about 5 of them every time I go in.
If I get a pleco my stock will be 1 striped raphael and 1 common pleco. What fish are compatible with them?
The only other thing I could think about getting would be a Leopard Ctenopoma. He should be able to protect himself from the pleco.
Oh, does anyone here have a good online source for large drifwood?

Yes. He was in with a male pearl scale that had released milt before and an unsexed ranchu. He nearly triples their size. They stood no chance.
He is officially going to be re homed. If the pet store won't take him they i will put an add on craigslist. He needs to be in a pond or much much larger tank, around 100 gallons.

Man, I didn't know goldfish did that to each other. Sorry
Um, a pleco and a talking catfish should be good together. Compatible fish would be medium sized top-swimmers, something like rainbow fish would add some color. Leopard perch might be a little big for your tank, and they really should be given live or freeze-dried food, they like the hunt and need the protein; but if you're up for it then by all means. Oh, and if you go that way, a large piece of driftwood with branches that form 'caves' would be ideal.

I'm actually not a fan of colorful fish. I like earthy colors.
For now I will be getting the pleco. The leopard ctenopoma may or may not be added to the tank after I get it completely set up with some nice big chunks of driftwood and maybe some low light plants like java moss.
Hmmm, maybe I will just get some small mosquito fish which could double as a nice snack if the catfish managed to catch one.
I have lots of thinking and searching to do. More suggestions are welcome.

I am so sorry about your fish. Are you 100% sure it was the common who killed the other two fish? - Did you actually see it happen? Because the bubble on the head and bruised lip could be a sign of mouth rot. I think the disease section will have more people to help u.

The bubble on his head has gone down but he still has the bruised lip. The best way I can describe the bubble is like when a human gets a blister(looked clear with a possibility of fluid inside). It wasn't white like the symptoms of mouth rot. I touched it the other day and it felt like the wen of an oranda.
I didn't see it happen when he killed them but when I turned the light on he was pushing the bodies around rather aggressively. Mouth rot and any type of fin rot takes a few days to get to what I saw. Since they were 100% fine the day before I do not think it was mouth rot/body rot/hole in the head.
