I got a new betta about a week ago. My fiance came home one day and said "I have something in the car that I need you to go get." I went out to the car and found she had brought home a betta. He is a "rescue" of sorts. Apparently, one of her co workers had him on their desk in one of those 1/2 gallon critter keepers. They said they could no longer take care of him and knew that I had several fish. He looked rather lethargic and had a swollen belly, probably from the poor conditions and goldfish flakes he had been eating. Luckily, I had not taken down my 5g hex after Buster 1.0 passed away so I put him in there. Within a day, he was doing much better. His color is that sort of white/yellow color on his head and body, and has blue fins with red highlights. I will probably get the Koko's stick for not posting pics now, but I will try to post some as soon as I can get a good pic with my cellphone camera.

That is so cool. He is lucky you and your finace' rescued him. Can't wait to see pics. He should love that 5g he is in after all that time in the 1/2 gallon

He does. He reminds me of Buster 1.0 the way he surfs in the output of the filter, slinks around the plants, and does his hungry dance when I walk up to his tank.

Here are a couple of pics of Buster 2.0. They are not the best, but enough for me to avoid the Koko's stick.

Thank you. I think I will name him Buster 2.0, in honor of the crash test dummy from Mythbusters, and of his predecesor. It's amazing how quickly he recovered from his ordeal in the 1/2 gallon container.
