I did a filter pit this year with bottom drain. My pond is 3,000 gallons (4 feet deep at BD. Got better filtration by making my own DIY spraybar and microscreen in a 55 gallon barrel. Works like a charm! I use a Laguna filter falls for my bio, and it is filled with 1/2" plastic strapping for bio. All summer and fall it worked great!

The floating ring is a hula hoop from nnnnnn. Just fill it where it connects with caulk and it floats. It is also a good place to throw food into. I usually have two in the pond. One for water lettuce and water hyacinth and one for feeding. It keeps the food in one place and from going into the skimmer before they can get to it.

Thanks! I think that every day too! None of my fish are show fish by any means, but they are fun to have and watch and care for!

The pond is 13-14 feet wide by 9-10 feet across by four feet deep in the middle. I estimate around 3,000 gallons including the filtration (settlement chamber and bio chamber are an additional 100 gallons).

oh that is a good size! Your pond probably about 3,500 gallons. Really Cool. Did you build it by yourself or did you hire people?
Nickie

Took me a week to build.
It used to be by the back door and we "moved" it to be back by the garage. It took me the longest to dig out. The rest was a piece of cake.

Thanks for all the great comments! I appreciate them!
