Does any one make there own goldfish food?
Just wondering because
i might make some if it's not to complicated

I do, and there is a bunch of receipes pinned at the top of this page. There are easier ones, and some with more ingredients, so there is plenty to choose from....

Yes I do. My fish love homade food, and I make it occasioaly for a treat. I usullay make a salad of a whole bunch of flakes and treats, and a watermelon ( unseeded) with peas or something. They love that!

Here is a recipie, I usually use the ones pinned to the top of Goldfish Food forum though; Gel Food,



Kroshinsky Gelatin Food Recipe

2 lb. Smelts

24 oz. Frozen Peas

3   Large Red Bell Peppers

2 to 3 12 oz. pkg Frozen Chopped Spinach

16 oz. Plain Wheat Germ

5 tsp. Powdered Vitamins

32 envelopes Plain Powdered Gelatin

    Water

Liquefy first 4 ingredients in a blender, adding sufficient water for blender operation. Place in large pot, add wheat germ, and heat until warm stirring continuously. When warm, add the gelatin gradually, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Stir in vitamin powder, then cool and refrigerate. Once solid and rubbery, cut into 3/16th inch thick sheets and freeze.

Defrost sheets as needed, cutting into 1/4th inch cubes prior to feeding.

Makes about 2 gallons.

Maybe Black Oranda found out by now, that the only negative part to the whole food making process is, that he has to clean up a rather big mess in the kitchen. You think we should have warned him beforehand?

I finished freezing half of it.

In mine i have
Frozen Peas
Chopped Spinach
Grapes.
Carrotes.
I added tropical food in the mixture.
With goldfish pellets and allitle bit of betta food.

The fish love it!

I think we should of warned him..did you have a great big mess Black Oranda? Sounds good, Black Oranda, maybe you should ship me some if your goldfish can't resist, did you put something magic in those cubes?

That's great! I wouldn't mind trying a piece though, I've eaten fish food before.

My cats run crazy for the gel food, especially when I make the one from Rick's book. It must be the fishy smell in it or something, but they follow me all around the house, and I keep dropping little pieces on the floor for them.....
Its strange though, eating fish food doesn't mak them any more friendly toward taking a bath though.....
