I've still not found any egg phoenix anywhere online...does anyone know anyone who breeds them and sells them privately, or perhaps an online vendor I've yet to find?
small_ranchu
You can ask Ken at Dandy Oranda.
Here is his web site http://home.columbus.rr.com/dandyorandas/

I know that Daryl has some phoenixs. i don't think she would part with any of them though. All i know is they are almost impossible to find online and at your lfs
lucky13
sorry if this sounds dumb, but what is a phoenix goldfish

oh, those are pretty

I was going to ask what they are too. But now that I see, I can understand why they are hard to find. I personally am not wild about the appearance of them, but I can see why they are sought out and why they would be rare. As I have just repeated myself twice. LOL

I love them...first time I have ever seen or heard about them, but their tails are amazing!!

I've been trying to ask Daryl about buying some of her phoenix fry, but I can't message her!

Daryl is away. Back in afew days, you could try again then smile.gif
daryl
I am still away..... but I gave away the last 9 about 2 weeks ago . I expect a whole slew of new ones this spring - you will be welcome to some then - pay shipping and they are yours. I have 6 blues and 6 red/white breeders.
Allen
Oh, Daryl! Thanks so much for reading this, how do I message you about the private stuff? IE, shipping etc...and how much to send you, your address, blah blah...I can't figure out how to send private messages on this forum!
small_ranchu
Allen,
You need 200 post counts in order to send PM.
lucky13
thats weird, I sent one with 150 once
Allen
Oh Lord, I'm just gonna start SPAMing!!! ...Okay, not really! LOL. I'm a long way off from 200. -sigh.-

You cant post for the sake of making up posts. koko may warn you if you do. You can ask questions re-shipping etc in a thread addressed to daryl , later, if you need to.

There is no rush.... the fish will not be breeding until at least March..... and it is until at least July or August before I can even begin to truly access a fry's qualities..... so..... think "Next year"...ok?

Besides - they may not spawn every year. I hope, though. I had about 19 that were worthy of growout this past year ..... I hope for more this year.

God!! as you are hoping for more - I am the one wishing that nature provided a turnoff valve on each female!!!! It soimetimes reminds me of the effect that an old snowglobe has when it is turned upside down - only instead of snow flakes it's raing eggs!!!

I'm not really going to start SPAMing! I'm glad I have time to set up a tank just for Phoenixes, though :>I've been waiting for Phoenixes forever!

Ther was a guy in Singapore who used to cross breed ranchu with oranda and come out with this long tail ranchu which looks like the phoenix but have much rounder body. Unfortunately for him, there was no taker and he stop breeding them altogether.

I like to show my fish. In order to be truly proud of what I show, I have a goal to show that which I breed myself. That is a lofty goal, but I have a few potentials for next year's show.... smile.gif I feel strongly that it is not really right to show a fish that you simply buy and plop in a tank. To that end, I either want to breed them myself, or at least own them for at least a year before I show them.

Breeeding is not easy. I do not have the capasity to raise 4000 fry. But, from that many I got 4, sold about 100 Ryukins, and got about 200 Phoniex fry, got about 19. That is not too bad a percentage. It takes time and patience and a whooooole lotta luck. I like it. smile.gif

Your good at what you do.
I hope when I get older and have a place of my own that I can breed my goldies, but that is a ways down the road.
Until than I just want to learn I can about these amazing aquapuppies biggrin.gif

Man, there was a HUGE Phoenix at a lfs in my area, it was white/gray with black speckles on it!!! It was about 7 or 8 inches long!!!!! I wanted it SO badly. The only thing that was holding me back was not having cash or my debit card! (store don't take checks) Poor thing had Anchor Worm though, pretty bad. They were everywhere on him! sad.gif I asked the guy that owns the place where he gets these bigger fish (once and a while he'll have extremely big/rare/cool goldfish) but he wouldn't tell me anything!!!!! Just that he got them locally. So they show up occasionally but that was the only Phoenix I'd ever seen in real life and this was way earlier this year in like Feb.
Allen
I will now stare at you rudely from across the forum and make rude gesticulations with my hand whilst I gossip about you to Faustino!

Ugh! No fair! You actually got to see a Phoenix...IN a LFS! Blah. The chances of a LFS having an egg phoenix are ...slim to none. Still, I'm holding out for next Spring for some of Daryl's fry!
Jinyu_fan
Daryl,
Please keep us posted regarding availability of phoenix fry. I would love to get a couple of blue ones. I hospe the coming spring will be a fruitful one for your breeders!
Kets
