Which is the best way to feed these, or are my guesses way off?

1. Grating with the bigger side of the grate so not too fine, or

2. peeling and cutting into wedges, boiling or microwaving until soft, and then after cooling drop into tank?

I have a couple apples in the fridge, and haven't tried to feed fresh fruit yet (just veggies). I think I need some pointers. please.gif

I chop mine up and let them soak until moist enough for the goldfish to break up. Keep in mind, you probably have to drop in a few pieces at a time to see if they are even going to eat them. Even though goldfish are pigs, they can be picky too. I am not sure if microwaving them is good or not. As microwaves make radiation. I don't even think they are really safe for humans to be honest with you. And while we are on the subject, plastic containers that bottled water and the like come in, should not be put into a freezer as it releases a gas that puts risk of cancer. Just some FYI. My mom works in a hospital and is always informing us how to avoid being at risk. Of course I am a smoker, so you can guess I don't really avoid too much (Praying to God I get the will to quit soon). Anyways, just pinch off a few fine pieces big enough for them to eat up. Couldn't do any harm. Eat the rest of the apple.

i think the best way of feeding any vegetable or fruit such as carrot or apple is to grate them as the fish will eat them as if they are sinking pellets and this way every one in the tank is happy and they should all get some
