woohoo...i'm excited that 2 of my hermit crabs have successfully molted biggrin.gif

I got 2 crabs back in Aug.2006, and I got 4 more in August of this year...I had one of the carabs from 06 come up from a successful molt about 3 weeks ago. I was quite happy about this, as none of my crabbies have molted before......and just today, one of the new boys came up from what I thought was just de-stressing, but turns out he molted!!

I have one more under the sand, I do not know if he is molting or de-stressing...but if he's molting, I hope he has a successful one too!!

Cute!! Congrats that they molted succesfully, I used to keep mooncrabs, the first one molted succesfully the second one lost 2 legs (and he was already missing one) they molted at a really bad time though, I didnt know about cycling then and my ammonia was probably at its peak at that time and without shells the ammonia got to them and sadly they died cry3.gif they were the cutest little things though! The second one I had could barely walk after he molted cause he lost one of his backlegs poor thing, when I came home he was upside down, he almost drowned so we put him on his ornament, he was barely alive, I guess the combination of nearly drowning and deadly ammonia was too much for him now Im not allowed to get another cry3.gif I bet hermits are much easier to take care of, how big does their tank need to be?

Congrats! And that's a really nice pic, they are so funny. My sis has 2 that I gave her a year ago, I don't think they've moulted before but one recently lost two legs (including his large claw sad.gif ) so I'm really hoping he pulls through and grows them back!

Thanks everyone smile.gif

Shamu, I'm not familiar with mooncrabs, what exactly are they?

I hope your sis's crab does grow back his limbs Chrissy!! I have heard of some people's crabs losing their BP too, and they did grow it back when they molted, so hopfully hers will too !!
