Would my plants be ok without light for 5 days? I could get the guy who's taking care of the fish to turn them on, but Im afraid he'd forget to turn them off and stress the fish. The plants are anacharis and hornwort, the wont be in complete darkness but no artificial light.

i would think they would start die off after day 3 or so i may be wrong as the plants you have are lowlight but still require a fair bit of light to keep going, if there is alot of natural light on the tank then they would do okay for the 5 days other wise invest in one of the timers that will turn the lights on and off every 8 hours or so. Plants need light whether it be artificial or natural.

it kind of depends java moss does better in light, as not enough light can cause it to turn brown and grow all over the place where if there is suffiecent lighting then it tends to grow in one shape and keeps that rich velvety green colour.

its too late to buy a timer, were leaving in like 1 hour. I've left a note for my fishsitter to tunr the light on, on the 27th and i'll add extra seachem flourish, do ya think it'll be ok? Im not so concerned about the hornwort, theres not much left anyway.

well i guess so as long as it is not dark turn the lights on the 27th and add some flourish they should be fine

you may have some dead leaves here and there though. Have a fun time on your hoiday
