Now my parents have changed their mind again and dont want me to put goldfish in the big pond (cant they just make up their mind?!?!?!), so my mom has been trying to convinve my dad to build me a small pond. Now the problem with that is that if he did say yes it would only be a small pond probably no bigger than 500 gallons so we'd have a major problem in winter. I asked if we could have a small pond (350 gallons) and a 100 gallon tank and just get a few fish and bring them inside in the winter, but my mom said no to that. So now I told my mom it would be ok (not really!!!) to get me a tank of at least 100 gallons and pay for a pond when I eventually get my own place. (Maybe if I do get a big tank i'll eventually get a small pond too, just to put some fish in, in the summer). My mom seems to have agreed to that, I dont know about my dad but I think he might too. Do u guys think thats a good deal?

I think that is a good deal and your Comet will be very happy in a 100g tank! LOL! You know, you could always get an above-ground pond to use just for the summer time...

now they've change their mind again! Geez, anyway my mom said Im still allowed to put fish in the big pond, but hopefully i'll still get a big tank, theres this huge tank I want and she asked me how much it cost lol, so maybe she does want to buy me one, except not this one cause its way too expensive, everything is at petland but its ssssoooooo awesome! The 100 gallons are still expensive but maybe we can find a cheaper one somewhere, I really would like to keep Frodo inside in a big tank.

Shamu, Personally, I like the idea of a large indoor pond. Your weather conditions up there are so extreme that goldfish may suffer in the big pond. Go for the big tank. I like the 125 because I can get my arm all the way down to the bottom and it's 6 feet long -- a nice LONG run for a comet. You can always construct a Summer Only pond to put them in later. Five hundred gallons would be a nice size to start with.

You know, you COULD just get a 300 gallon stock tank for the summers. Empty it out and turn it upside down in the fall, after you bring the fish indoors to their big tank. That would work too.

ok, I guess i'll ask for a tank then. When Im older i'll have a pond for sure cause Im gonna move down south bingo.gif . They'd never let me have an indoor pond! I've been asking for an indoor pond for almost 2 years now, the answer is always NO!
