Full Version: Crescent Tail Telescope Eye
Forum > The Goldfish Topics > Types of goldfish

I have a friend who owns a goldfish farm about one year ago. Amongst his last few batches of goldfish was this crescent tail telescope eye which he gave to me about a year ago. I learnt that crescent tail telescope eye are almost extinct now as the preference is for butterfly and veil tail or broad tail.

This tail form can be seen in some traditional Chinese paintings of telescipe eye where the tail tips are pointed at the end.

And this was how she looks like 6 months ago.

And this is how she looks like one year ago whn I first got her. Picture was taken at my friend's farm.

Wow...never seen a fish like that!

Do you mind if I ask what size tank it is in? I have seen pics of your fish and they all seem to be in some small containers, or is that just the way the pics look?

When u keep ur fishies in tubs which I think is what bro HNLim is doing, it's handy to have a tank designated for viewing/photographing purposes only. Nothing to worry about smile.gif

I have 2 - 3ft tubs, one 3 ft tank and 2 - 2ft tubs and 1 - 1ft tank for photo taking. I do not have the luxury of space as I keep all my goldfish at home in the balcony.

Breeders have stop breeding this variety of goldfish as the demand for telescope eye are focused more on butterfly tail, short tail demikin and broad veiltail varieties. This piece is an "accident" fish that breeders in China and Thailand will cull off.

WOW! I never thought about that! Pretty smart!

I know that I would love to have one of crescent tails. It seems to me that most people would want fish that are not "the same" as what everyone else has, you know?
