FishCrazy
nice video!!!

so how many fish are in there?
also
Is there just goldfish in there?
vmlola
Thanks guys!

As for the sound effects, barking dogs and kids, all normal in my house, would be hard to make a video without the noise! rofl3.gif

There are 18 goldfish in the pond, all fancy. Nothing else. I had my two large snails out there but was finding them on the patio floor in the mornings, so I brought them back inside. Some Orandas, Ranchus and two Telescopes. Steve, my Moor, is one of them. Its barebottom except for the two cinder blocks that the filter and pump sit on. The pond was under my patio for the summer to protect from our sun and the heat, but I have moved it, that was fun, out from the patio, so that it gets full direct sun for the winter months. I will try leaving them out for the short winter that we have. I have been in contact with the folks at Watergarden.com and they told me that with the mild winters and the size of the stock tank I could just add a couple large aquarium heaters and the fish would do fine. I will watch them closely to make sure they are doing well.
FishCrazy
wow 18 are you going to get more?
vmlola
I do have more, but they are all inside the house in tanks. I am leaving 18 in the pond as it seems to give them plenty of room so its a good number I think.
gardengirl
That's a 300 gallon stock tank right? I'm thinking about getting one of those this spring to breed a few of my pond fish in. I have all black comets and orange and white comets. I want to breed them to see if I get tri-colored comets like the one I lost earlier this summer..... Do you have an in-tank filter? I have no idea how I want to filter this tank when I get it...

Nice set-up you've got there. smile.gif
Ranchugirl
Nice going, Lola! thumbsup.gif Your oranda gets bigger and bigger, and do I see a tanch lionhead in there? That black ranchu, is that your new one? Its so cute how he walzes through the water... biggrin.gif
Goldfish Geisha
Wow! Love the video krazy.gif

Thanks Andrea, I know you know a thing or two about the stock tank ponds. I have enjoyed this more then my inside tanks. Is it possible for fish to be happier outside? I think so, at least mine have been. They always had plenty of room in their aquariums, but something about being outside has changed them. I love it! So Thanks for your kind words! heartpump.gif

Yes, my Oranda, Ava, keeps growing. And yes, that is a Tancho Lionhead. Hes just wonderful. The little black Ranchu is a pest, spoiled rotten. He was very teenie when I bought him, he is not new, as I have had him for at least 18 months. His name is Seymour!
Ranchugirl
You know, I think its the sun that does the trick. Like humans, I assume - the sun makes you feel happy. Plus all the extra food in form of algae and bugs (for the fish, not the humans biggrin.gif)

That lionhead is so cute, I remember when you got him/her! They are all so cute begging for attention heartpump.gif They are growing like weeds! Great jo Lorrie! Gotta get me a stock tank one of these days!
Hidr
I am pea green with envy. If I just had a spot for something like that. Your so lucky and it looks GREAT.
vmlola
Hey Kat, yeah you need to get one. They are alot of fun. I think mine is a bit easier to care for as Andrea has warned about the care of the bottom of these tanks with debrie blowing in such as leaves and then the bottom getting funky, but I have no trees around with leaves so I never get them. I do get some long pine needles, but I just take my net and skim the top of the water. At the same time I take my net and skim the bottom too, something about the great outdoors and all the extra naturall foods = extra big "Green Poops"! rofl3.gif .

Thanks Hidr! I am lucky to have the space.
Ranchugirl
Yeah, my ponds sit halfway under the roof, but also halfway under a gigantic pecan tree. Not only do I find leaves in all shapes and sizes in the pond, the fish also get to see some pecans. Good thing those things float - I can just pick them up.
The pine needles are a mess, aren't they? But at least they are floating, so its a bit easier. If I could, I'd cut down all the pine trees on our property. Too many negative memories from hurricane season in FL.
vmlola
I know what you mean Andrea about the pine needles, but like you said, at least they float. I know my neighbors in back of me wish I would cut down the pine trees, as they hang over our back stone wall and the needles, pine cones and sap go on their patio. yikes.gif But we have so little shade here, I hate the thought of cutting them down and loosing that shade. Toooooooooo hot here nine months out of the year.

Thats funny though about your fish and the pecans. rofl3.gif
Ranchugirl
Yeah, they can play with them if the want to. justtoo.gif All I need is a tiny little basket ball net, and they are all good to go! Thud.gif
Trinket

Pecan ball- a new game for goldies!

It looks so beautiful Lorraina. I have to get one organised for the spring. I am working hard onthe idea. I love the way light catches on outside tubs, cant see that with hooded tanks or eye level tanks.
Mads
wow, that's wonderful! I love your pond Lor. heartpump.gif biggrin.gif
Ms. Melissa
I want your red cap oranda!!! lol! Mine are still babies and I can't wait to see them when they grow up and look like yours! I love the cheeks!
