One of my dojos (and not the other) is attacking my goldfish and I don't know why. However this does explain the recent unexplained injuries on some of my fish.
Is there a way to remedy the situation besides removing the offending loach?
btw, my tank is 50 gal and home to 4 med to large fancy goldfish, two loaches and a few mystery snails. There's driftwood and plants, as well as some fake palm trees and gravel for substrate.
Any suggestions?

I had the same problem in my 180 gallon and had to remove my gold dojos. I have read elsewhere on the site that they will pester goldfish if their school is not large enough. I didn't want to risk having more loaches nibbling on my goldies and chasing them around so never tried increasing their numbers. Maybe worth a shot?

nope, I'm all tanked out. No room for another. I could buy a couple more loaches, if I could find them in this town... they're kind of a seasonal thing.

Mine sometimes have a go during feeding time. But in the 3 years I have kept loaches I have never seen them do any damage, this isnt to say others wont
Do the loaches have places to hide??

I bought 2 more last night and haven't seen any offending behavior so far, I suppose I could create some more hidey holes too.
Thanks everyone for prompt responses, and keep 'em coming

Loachs are normally playful fish it may look like they are attacking but often they are playing.
I have a pair of dojos in their own tank before that Piranha my loach I have had for 2 years now used to play with my Goldies but never harmed them.

I'll see if the new hidey holes do any good...

update
My four loaches are seen regularly hiding, playing and piling up like the playful things they are. They honestly seem happier now that there's more of them. I still catch the one pestering the goldfish once in a while, but that behavior is becoming less frequent.

I have noticed a big difference in the attitudes of my loaches from before and after they had a proper school to play with. For the most part they are much calmer when they have a few others to pile up with.
One of my loaches still likes to swim with the goldies when they are doing the spawning chase. I think it gets excited because usually the goldies do not swim that fast and just wants to tag along.
