Well, as my current frustration with my poor pearlscale that has incurred an apparent raging internal bacterial infection will witness, I’m no expert, but I’m doing my damndest to learn, but I do hate it when you’re desperate for a response and/or help and/or just plain ol’ support, understanding and sympathy and no one responds, it can make you feel bad, so I just thought I’d take a minute to say I sympathize with you and as far as my understanding of ammonia burn goes, if it’s a blackish area, then that is, in essence, a scab and is healing. And, if it is black and healing and if you have only had the fish for two days and your water tests good, my first assumption would be that it was from the store.

My betting is it is healing ammonia burns. Healing burns can appear some time after purchase from a store. Its nothing to worry about as they are in good water conditions now. Many stores overstock there tanks as Google my latest addition has a ammonia burn healing on his tail which appeared few days after purchase.

I agree. I think it was from his past conditions. However, just keep a check on water params to make sure they stay okay. smile.gif

I thought so too, just wanted to be sure. His tank defianently was overstocked and filthy, with lots of dead and sick fish
