Do I need to take the carbon out of my filter before adding salt? Also, are there any kinds of plants that I need to remove? I've been reading all the salt threads but I can't find the answer.

Thanks. smile.gif

Yes, you do need to remove the carbon from the filter. If you are salting low at .1% then leave the plants in, if you are salting up high at .3% then I don't know but you should be able to tell by looking at them if they are stressed and need to be removed.

yes you should take the carbon out and remove the plants especially if they are the more delicate fine leaved plants and moss as they are not very hardy and even a little salt is enough to push them over the edge and kill them

OK, second question then. smile.gif What do plants need besides light and dechlorinated water to live in a bucket for a couple of weeks?

that should be about it if you want them to grow use some ferts and i suggest planting them in some gravel instead of just having them float there

what does the carbon do to the plants?
koko
that plant i have had and added salt to the tank, did little harm to the plant, carbon wont hurt the plant nor will it do anything to remove salt out of the tank, So taking the filter carbon out you dont need to do, as for the plants u need to add it slowly and make sure it is melted in water biggrin.gif
