So I got some food I mail ordered today (yay!) including OSI spirulina pellets. I bought them to mix up my goldies diet a bit but they aren't as easy to feed as I thought. I soaked them for over 10 mins, then squeezed the air out and they were still floaty. When I finally did put them in the tank, they floated over to the corners and I don't even think my fish saw them wall.gif Anyone else here feed these/have suggestions?

i tried spirulina pellets, but they sank in the water. My fish didn't like them at all--they'd spit the first few back out and then ignore all of the remaining pellets.

i've fed the spirulina from goldfishconnection.com and they sink. my fish eat them... it doesn't seem as easy to eat as the other pelleted food, but they'll eat it none the less. smile.gif

Hmnn, I've tried a couple of brands of spirilina flakes, the fish like them and they deepen the orange colour. Some matt white fish will go lemon yellow. Not a good idea to feed to black moors who show any bronze or gold or white on their tummies.

Thanks for that tip! My moore does have a bit of a silver tummy but so far (I've had him about 6 months) he has kept his black. I guess the tropicals will be getting all those pellets!

I use the OSI medium pellets. Some of them float and some of them sink. I actually pick out the sinking ones first because my comets prefer to eat off the bottom. My big fish will go looking on the top after it is finished on the bottom (Piggy!). Here are the pellets I use:

I usually give my fish a variety of junk at feeding time.

OSI are the pellets I have too, maybe because I opted for the large size is why they are all floating. I'm thinking of making some gel food this weekend (big wild plans, I know rolleyes.gif ) and I may put them in that. I'm still a bit worried about my moore losing color though....anyone know if turtles like spirulina??? My turtle is always the recipient of unwanted pet food!!
