Charlie,
What a beautiful cabinet and I love the fish handles. Excellent job. It's beautiful and so are your fish smile.gif

Thanks for the comment Carli! I tend to get too picky when building stuff and a little project becomes a big one. I hope to build a few more stands soon. I was very dissapointed by the quality of the stands at the local pet shops and decided to make my own. I got lucky with the fish handles. They were on sale and only a few were left.

Excellent job! I love the handles too! I think it was interesting how you drilled the sponge hole I never would have thought of freezing it first. Clever! biggrin.gif
Carli
I wish you were my neighbor so you could teach me how to do that. smile.gif There is no comparison to a ready made cabinet. Picky is good smile.gif

Thanks for the comment Chickey. The sponge thingy was another DIY i did. They work really well! The tanks with those filters were crystal clear.

Thanks Carli smile.gif . That would be great! I think I saved about $200 by making it myself.

Oh wow, thanks Nickie! Now thats a compliment!! blush.gif I am not a professional and have only dabbled in woodworking over the years. The hardest part is collecting the power tools. This was my first attempt at the aquarium cabinet thing. It was just a prototype and I will improve on it in the future. I want to build a unique one next. Maybe a multi-tank cabinet or some kind of corner job.

Thanks dude! I may be a bit slow wacko.gif , but I can get the job done. My big comet is a bit beat up from her way-too-small proir tank. I hope she gets her missing scales back soon sad.gif .

The current operating tanks I have are: 1-2 gallon with a male multi-colored veil tail Betta Splendens and a 45g with 2 Comets and 2 Shubunkins. In storage I have 2-10g's, 1-75G, 1-20g and 1-40breeder. I guess I own a lot of air fish rofl3.gif

I may just have to do that anyway because of the potential size of my Shubies!

WOW! Awesome job!

That is an incredible work of art! It looks great. Those fish handles were a good find weren't they and just perfect. I bet you thought they were looking for you when you found those..or did they inspire you to make the cabinet biggrin.gif ?
Carli
I found these on ebay.

I like the form of Charlie's a bit better but I thought these were nice too.

Thanks Kittyfriends, my head is getting so big from all these comments that I may need to go out and get some low-cal shampoo!

Thanks Trinket, my Dad has been an artist for most of his 78 years of life. I might have a smidgen of his talent (but I doubt it!). The fish handles were a lucky find. I couldn't believe how cheap they were! Maybe a sign? Haha

Carli, Those knobs are beautiful!! They look like better quality than mine. I used to ebay a lot but gave up on it because of a couple of bad experiences. I still love to go there often. The price is right too! The only real difference I can see is that the fish knobs I used can be installed tail left or tail right. I wanted them to be nose to nose, although my knobs don't have as good of detail as the ebay knobs.
Carli
I like the nose to nose idea and I think yours are prettier. smile.gif Yep, ebay can be a problem but I've not had but one bad experience where I didn't get my money back. 1 out of 400+ transactions over the years isn't too bad. I think I just admitted that I'm an ebay junkie LOL

That is a beautiful stand. Did you find plans for it on the internet or did you draw them up yourself?

Thanks a lot for the compliment Emily! smile.gif That is my design. I looked at the manufactured stands at the LFS and then decided on my design. My stand was a bit of an overkill. I want to build a multi-tank thing next. Sorry for the late reply on this, I didn't seem to get an email notification for it.
