Well the pond in fall is a sad sight. We are building a pond cover so that the many fry can overwinter.
As soon as my new fish room is finished I will bring in the big ones.
This is how the pond looks today...

And this...

And just so you can see there is still fish in it...
Belly, Comet, Goldie and Angus!
I guess there will be more pics as the pond cover gets ready and the de-icer pump arrives!

Congrats Anette. You're all done now and the fish are safe and cosy for the winter. They should start to slow down their metabolisms right? Have you stopped feeding now?
That de-icer looks great and the cover looks really strong. I suppose snow will settle on it caving it in a bit but shouldn't matter. Love the polar bear

Yes, I have stopped feeding, the water is too cold.
But weather here is strange, we had snow but it melted, today it's cold but sunny.
But I know there will be tons of snow, if not now so in Jan. and Feb.!

Still no snow but frost!
Pretty!
Amazing that our little creatures can survive the cold winters, huh?

We had a storm last night, the covering sheet flew off, and we took our chance to watch the fish. And I saw Goldie and Gullmer, and some tiny fry, swimming around in the cold water! Yippeee, they are alive and well!! I am so happy! Next winter there will be more overwintering fish!
