Well my fish are really giving me grief lately smile.gif A couple of weeks ago one of my Orandas(ziggy) pineconed, but almost immediately started getting better and now seems to be over whatever he was dealing with. Now I have a new problem(although thankfully I don't think it's very serious). Yesterday I noticed Chubber my ranchu has 2 little white spots on her tail. One looks like those white spots on the ray that they get sometimes so I don't think that's anything. The other one is a little weirder though. It's right where her tail and body meet and it's white but not fuzzy... more jelly looking. I noticed it yesterday and it just looked like she scratched her slimecoat and some of it was coming off. However, today it looks more substantial. I moved her out to a little container so that I could photograph and poke and prod her and I touched it and it didn't feel like anything, but it also didn't come off. It was really hard to get a decent picture of it because it's so little and it's always out of focus. I think I'm going to salt the tank, but I wanted to consult here and see if there's any further actions that I should take.

Hi Imber. Great pics! I know how hard that is to do.

Looks to me at first glance like a little fungal growth. I am on my way out the door(will stop back later) and just wanted to say that I'd start with salting.
Run your fingers over the spot and see if its smooth or a little bit bumpy/waxy/hairy. Its also possible it could be the beginning of a viral type infection. One thing after another is how it goes huh!

Lol thanks for the comment on the pics... it took about 30 to get those good ones! When I poked at it a bit it didn't really feel like anything - like it just squished down to nothing. I need to give it another try because she was so wiggly that I was really worried about hurting her and then she pooed on me. I'll start with the salt and see how it goes!
