saw this on pfk today
Rainbow Koi in Wiltshire, paid an undisclosed sum to a Japanese breeder for the fish - named Big Girl - which is 120cm/4 feet long and weighs 41kg/90lbs.

Wow, I'll have to agree with Ryuu's HOLY CARP! I've never seen a koi that big. Theres a koi pond at one of the local apple orchards that has some biggies...my guesstimate is 2.5-3 ft but I couldn't imagine a 4 footer

I haven't seen a Koi that big before!

I've seen a few 36 and 38 inchers at the shows but NEVER a 48 inch koi! Wow..... This is WHY I say they need 1000 for EACH koi!!!!!!! I wonder what her pond looks like? I also wonder how old she is?

believe it or not they have a couple koi that big in a tank at a chinese resturant near where I work. The first time I went in there I could not believe it. I still stand there and stare at the tank when I go there and I think the owners think I am goofy or something for staring at the fish

I have seen 38 and 39 inch koi, but that fish just about tops it all! It isn't a bright red fish - more of a faded orange? I wonder if that fish scares even the meanest heron away...

One private fish keeper paid 60.000$ for a 3 ft kohaku at the Orlando show, I believe it was 2004. I can only imagine how much that 4 ft fish must have cost!

I have had almost the same experience! Except at a Korean resturant. They have a huge tank that makes up the entire center of the dining room... It has to be huge... The koi in there were so big that they eventually had to move them out into a pond on some land behind the resturant. It's pretty cool though because now they have their own "koi park" for guests to visit before their food is ready.
