I bought this lighting system and have it installed on my 125g. tank:http://futurepet.com/cgi-bin/FULLPRES.exe?PARTNUM=CU01024The wattage confuses me. I'm not certain I understand how much wattage is going with the daylight lamps.I got the 60" length unit.

You get 130 watts light system. So basically you are having a system w/ 1 watt per gallon. I guess your system is good for low light plant.

your system actually have a 260watt light output, but only half of it is useful. the other half us mostly used on marine tanks. i would swap out the Dual Actinic 420nm/460nm bulbs for the 6700k/10,000k bulbs.

that would give you 2 watts per gallon.

Do those bulbs put anything out wattage-wise that is significant? I think aside from the blue glow in the water, they don't shine very bright. The other two are quite bright however. As soon as I placed my fish in the tank, Oscar, who had virtually no wen growth at all, started sprouting new growth! That was in less than 12 hours. Something is happening, that's for sure. unsure.gif

when i mean they dont do much, i mean for plants.

im not sure if it has anything to do with wen growth. and its hard to believe just changing the light would instantly result in wen growth.

It's a lovely cooincidence though. I had all but given up on his wen. smile.gif I'll likely change out the bulbs a little later, as they aren't very cheap. At least by the time I decorate the tank. Right now there is no cover for the fish to get away from the bright light.
