Has anyone every tried to H.O.T. (Hang on Tank) Magnum - 250 GPH? I need a new filter to supplement my tank and someone brought this up briefly in another thread.

I've been looking at a bunch of websites all day and the reviews were very positive. Basically it's like a tiny canister filter except it still hangs on the back.

I do not know about that one, nor do I own any HotMagnum products. I have 2 friends who do have the larger HotMagnum cannisters and I asked them yesterday what theythought of them. Both were positive - they enjoyed the filtration given by the filter and generally had no problems of any nature with them. Both did mention that it was a bit more difficult to open and clean than they had hoped, but neither was more than mildly frustrated at times with that.

In general, most cannisters are a bit annoying at times anyway, so I do not know what validation, if any, to give to this.....

I haven't seen this particular cannister but that silver metal grip that holds the top like a thermos? I had one of those on a Tetra cannister and it was a devil to open and close without a river of water rushing out onto the floor even after I'd turned it off. Maybe that was just my inabilty to get the hang of it. JMO but for a HOB I prefer to have a spray bar or water flow.
