Hi I was just wondering what people thought of divided tanks to keep your male bettas in? Is it o.k. or does it stess them out because there can see each other most of the time? If you give them hiding places is it o.k?
Thanks Leah.

I guess I am ready to find out. One of my 2.5 gallon minibows I had one of my male bettas in sprouted a long crack that was leaking. I had to end up pitching the tank. So I had to get some plastic cross stich material and divide up my 2.5 other minibow I had left. So far they do go over and look at each other trough the plastic canvas and flair a lot. When I get paid this weekend I going to get one these at Wally world on Saturday and split them back up

I also have a 2 1/2 gallon with a plastic divider. I am tring to get some java moss to grow on it to keep them from seeing each other as much. But those two betta's show the best colors then the ones I keep alone and I rotate who is in there so they can "rest".

I plan on seperating them this weekend. The tank I showed holds 1.5 gallons and has a small hob filter to it. I am afraid to trust the minibow anymore. I plan on buying three of these tanks, one at a time each time I get paid. one of my boys will get the first one so I can spilit them up.I notice when the light is off during the night they do not flare as much. With two in a 2.5 gallon you are going to have to change the water a lot more often like every three days. you are increasing your bioload.

SInce I have live plants in the tank I have been able to change the water once a week just like I do on my 1 gallon jars/bowls that also have plants.

I also have live plants in mine . I have java moss in both sides . Live plants will not save your water. You are going to have to check your water params more ofter with two bettas in a 2.5 gallon tank

I really like the look of your new tank. It is really nice I haven't seen anything like it in Australia. Thanks for the advice.
Leah.

I am glad it works for you. I just changed their water on Saturday and am probably going to have to do it again tonight.

I have a 20 gallon tank with 3 male bettas that can see each other through the clear dividers. They flared A LOT when I first put them in there. Now they've settled down and don't do it as often.
My thought is: if they get tired of flaring, they'll stop.
They seem to stop and rest, and they eat and swim just fine. They aren't fixated on each other all the time.
I also have a Aqua-tech filter (nnnnnn brand I think) designed for 5-15 gallon tanks and a corner filter to help keep the tank clean.
The filter is a weaker one so it works great for the bettas. I also have a heater in there as well.
