thank you guys! biggrin.gif at first i was kind of disappointed about it, the cemet support blocks was taking away atleast 30 gallon from the pond! but now, im happy with it, and the fish have a great place to hide too.

but there is sad story here. my uncle have a pond, filled with koi and comets. he has tons of baby butterly matsuba or ogon koi from all the fish breeding!! druel.gif that time, i still have enough space and filtration for another koi. i ask my dad if he could ask for 1 baby koi from my uncle. my dad says he would go when he have some time.

a week ago, while i was at school, my dad brought home 3 koi, and maybe around 10ish goldfish!! ignore.gif all around 6-7 inches!!!! along with my crew of 10 goldies and 1 koi, i was EXTREMELY OVERSTOCK!! i was so mad! and in the group, there wasn't even 1 baby ogon koi that i really wanted. blowup.gif blowup.gif my dad understands that i only wanted 1 and only 1 fish. he said that he tried to tell my uncle that, my my uncle had a net that have too big of a hole for the babies. he dad said that he was just randomly net out any fish, and gave them all to us. my dad tried to put some back, but my uncle refused. so, i came home that day with a pond full of unfamiliar fish. i was so mad, and sad. now, i dont know what to do with them.

the bright side is that they are all very social, and they were handfeeding the next day. and he gave me a standard fin red matsuba. but the fish have a big head, too big for the body. they got along with my fish and no one got eaten...

i have also release Laces out to the pond. biggrin.gif he's hiding all the time under the mountain, and his dark colors and tiny size make him hard to see. but sometimes, he would come out and dart around, and that is when i'll get to see him.

Sweet pond!!!!
How do you get such clear pictures of your fish? Mine will not cooperate in any way!! Love the mountain. Your dad is just awesome!

thanks! i try to take pics when it is really sunny. i take them with 100 iso, and maybe with a lower ev setting. and macro has to be turned on. try to get close to the fish rather than zooming. handfeeding will really help. exactly.gif

so this is my littke story of how i got them biggrin.gif
here are their piccies, enjoy!

i love the black one! heartpump.gif

a white common with red fins

FishCrazy
wow that is one cool black comet i would bring him inside cause he looks so stunning
Peaches
All those fish are amazing! The black comet looks a bit coco colored to me, very stunning. biggrin.gif
Werent 10 or so of those comets just feeder fish at one time?
Nickie
Beautiful fish!!! WOW! They just come right up to you like that!!!! So neat!
Shamu23
those are some gorgeous fishies!!!! Too bad I have to wait another half a year until I can start building my pond. How big is urs?
love-rabbit-fish
thanks!

alex, the copper/black comet is pretty cool isn't it. i think i will keep him outside though, i like that color to stay as long as possible smile.gif

jon, yep, the commons/commets used to be feeders from petsmart. they were bought in April and were half the size of Buffalo and Wing. Now, they're just as big. biggrin.gif

thanks nickie, they surprised me that they were so social, i didnt expect them to come up to me until a few more days, even the fish that i had for 5 or 6 years didnt come up to me that quickly after i release them into the pond

shamu, my pond is only 700 gal, its tiny compared to your future pond! i know i REALLY need to rehome some of the fish though sad.gif

i got this a bit of a green water problem these days, and is doesn't help that i also got these floating bits of algae, so the pics aren't that good

here are some fresh pics biggrin.gif

the matsuba

the comet

the white w/red fin

"O" lol

Wing

Compare the size between Buffalo and Tangie(petsmart comet) at the top left corner. Buffalo is the orange comet, Tangie the redder comet

Such beautiful fish! I don't know if I will ever get the nerve up to build a pond! I don't think my nerves could take being responsible for so many fish! The two gf I have are enough to give me a heart attack if something were to happen to them! LOL! Thanks for the great pics!!!!
vmlola
They all look fantastic and I just love that black comet.
Hidr
Man oh man makes me want to think again about tring a half barrel pond. I just don't really have a good spot for it. /sigh Great looking fish you got there.
FishCrazy
spit.gif they sure were hungry

man...i wish i could get a pond
NightAngel
I really enjoyed looking at all your pictures. Thank you so much for sharing.
I just love all of their little faces coming up to your hand. What a bunch of cuties.
love-rabbit-fish
thanks!

alex, i really encourage getting a pond, they're fantasic and so much fun! i also notice that the health of the fish really improve outside too. and dont forget that you could improve their colors outside too, SUN! i have read in the other topics that your parent didnt approve of it though sad.gif but you could always annoy them and say lots of pleases and stuff and maybe eventually they'll give in, and let you have one, lol. or you could always try to wish it for your b-day/christmas gift! that's how i got mine biggrin.gif

thanks NightAngel, the matsuba koi always take a chunk of the skin on my finger in his mouth and start to shake it back and forth blink.gif, it scared me for a while there , but it doesnt really hurt hah.gif

good news today, i was out feeding them, and today, i spotted Laces (little shubie) swimming up towards the surface! he even took some of the food and sprinted to somewhere safe in the pond. i didnt see him in the last couple of days and i though he got eatened! but he's okay. He still did not get the concept of handfeeding yet though and still afraid of me. sad.gif
ConverseWithMyConverse
Your fish are gorgeous. I have been wanting a pond but I don't really have a good spot and I don't have the money to build one. My neighbor has a 700 gal water tub for cows that they used to use as a swimming pool for their kids but they got a real pool last summer and I have been thinking about asking them if I could have the tub and use it as a pond, but I haven't gotten the nerve yet.
chubbygold
Can I ask how big is your pond? it look very big lol
love-rabbit-fish
my pond is about 720 gallons totally, but after a some water displacements from the "mini mountain fountain" thing, i think that it is only about 700 gallon now.

700 is wayyyy too small for that number of fish, im planning some sort of way to find new homes for the koi and maybe some of the comets. if i cant, then i might just have to put some down sad.gif . my dad thinks that my pond being overstock is just nonsense. he just doesnt understand the fish's requirements and needs. so convincing him to give away some of the comet is kind of difficult. (personaly, i just think that he is getting attached to them wink.gif )
Lolafish
You should be able to rehome them. They are lovely! I adore all of them! If I had a pond, I'd totally take some off your hands!!!

lol yeah it seem a bit overstock,i guess as long as you can maintain the water quality. Lol if i were there i would have tkae some of yoru fish! they are Gorgeous! lol but then i dont have place, i mean my pond is even smaller lol except there are only 2 fish in it lol
love-rabbit-fish
lol, i do wish some members would live closer, and if they have enough room for some fish and if they actually want the fish, then, i'll be ensured that my finned pals will have wonderful homes. rolleyes.gif

say chubbygold, how big is your pond. i would love to see a pic of it druel.gif
Ranchugirl
You know that a black fish is supposed to bring luck to you, right? Normally, its the "black koi" thing, but I believe a black goldfish will do the same for you.
They all are beautiful fish, and so cute when they come up to eat ouf of your hand. thumbsup.gif

Um you can try giving it to someone you know that raise goldfish, maybe post it up on kokogoldfish here giving goldfish away, pick up only. So someone that raise fish and live near you can stop by and pick up 1 or 2 of your goldfishes. Yeah my parents is the same, they dont really believe in 1 goldfish required so much space lol.
Callie
these fish are gorgeous.
:]

and i must admit that i am a bit jelous of your pond ^^
love-rabbit-fish
thanks Callie smile.gif
love-rabbit-fish
i got some new pics today and i might as well post them here LOL, the nnnn commons/commets (the smaller red fish in the other pics) nearly doubled their size now and are going great! most of PC (nnnn commons) are showing breeding stars so i guess i got a bunch of males LOL! i did lost one of the larger pond fish due to what i suspect is dropsey though sad.gif *sign* he was a good fish sad.gif the last few days, the weather was warming up a lot and the fish was really active so i fed them today, they are getting gel food and some shrimp smile.gif

love-rabbit-fish
lol, thanks Vu! biggrin.gif

unfortunately the nursery place dont have a # in the phone book, so we have to come in the actual store to ask, but i havent been able to convince my dad yet to let me go there. sad.gif

but i think i might found them a better home, my dad's friend, is planning to build a large pond. i think i might give the koi's to that guy. he already has a smaller pond, so i know he has some experience with them smile.gif he really like the fish when he came over for a visit the other day, so i hope that;s a better home than the nursery... the sad part is that he is only "planning" , i dont know when the pond will actually be built. sad.gif *sign* i hope it will be soon

if he does build a pond i'm hoping to to give him the gray butterfly koi, the white koi, the tricolor koi (not Yamaha, i'm keeping him! LOL! ), and maybe the red matsuba koi too idont.gif: i might give him some of the larger commets too smile.gif
Sushi67
I love your pond so much(its my favorite here on Koko's!). It reminds me of chinese water gardens. All of your fish look so healthy. I'm envious.
love-rabbit-fish
thanks Sushi! heartpump.gif that really means alot to me heartpump.gif thanxsn.gif

i'll go snap a new pic of the entire pond for ya' if you would like smile.gif
Kuli_Loach
Thats so cool and amazing at the same time. I totally want a pond but I am afraid it gets way to cold here for them and then to warm for them.
dan in aus

In some of the pictures you posted on Feb 10, it appears that the white(ish) fish has what I will "barbs" on both sides of the mouth. Is that typical?

yep those are indeed "barbs" that you see, LOL wink.gif all the koi's have that, but goldfish don't. My Yamaha, my white koi (the one you mentioned), the red matsuba koi, the gray butterfly, and a mixie color koi all have "barbs" lol
MsAmpersand
Your fish are so beautiful!

In your Oct 5 2007 post, the seventh picture down, I just love that shot with that one fish with its mouth wide open. It's wonderful that they come right up to your hands. How many times have I stuck my hand in my commons' tank and even the lightest accidental brush against them and they freak out... even when I have food. rolleyes.gif

FishCrazy
lil Miss. Noname looks great..she could really tail wack the other guys..
