Blue
Your goldfish need to be around a year old. Its hard to determine sexing goldfish however when it is breeding season the males will develp breeding stars on their gills they look like small white pimples. The females will become rounder as they fill with eggs also their anal vent sticks out.
Goldfish usually breed in the spring its brought on by changes in temperature. The male will chase the female making her release her eggs however males can and do chase other males if no females are around so always look for the signs of breeding stars and the body features to determine sex.

With respect, I don't think should even consider breeding your goldfish until you have the overstocking problem sorted out (5 goldfish and a betta in a 10 gallon tank if I remember rightly...)

In any case, it would be extremely unlikely that they would breed in those circumstances anyway.

As you've been told in your other threads - giving them more space and better water quality is the most important thing right now smile.gif

When is the season to breed? is it all that year and beyond?
