Hello!.. I was out and about today.. And ofcourse I went to my lfs.. A smart Pet..lol I looked at their tank with fantails and guess what I found?? A tiny tiny orange/black oranda.. I know it's an oranda cuz it's body is very deep and he/she has a wen!! heartpump.gif I only paid $2.00 bucks for the fish too.. this fish is so adorable.. the guy told me that sometimes they get shipped like that.. orandas mixed in with fantails.. theres no way this is a fantail.. I have many of those in my pond and umm they have no wen(LOL).. anyways.. I put the fish in a QT 10gallon with a seeded filter with bio sponge.. But this filter seems to powerful for this 10gallon.. the filter is meant for a 10 g.. Are there filters less powerful? I have added air also because at the store they had no air and many were top sitting..gulping at the air from the top.. so far he/she is doing great.. no bottom sitting looks good.. I'll feed in the morning..

EDIT.. the fish is only about 1inch..very tiny.. how old do you think he/she is?

What brand of filter are you using?

I believe its on of those regent" ones.. Its just a filter I use for the QT tank.. but, the fish is soooo small that the filter seems too much.. unsure.gif

Jewels, can you just get a box filter for the corner and run that, or a sponge filter???? I use box filters for all my babies and they are not strong. You could even hook up two of them in a ten if you're worried about adequate filtration......

duh.. now why didnt I think of that??(LOL) Yeah I have plenty of sponge filters.. Thankyou sooo much exactly.gif

Most of my Lionhead fry hit 1 inch at about 10 weeks of age. At 12 weeks, I had them in a tank with an Emperor 400..... they were not only fine but could pick algae from the intake tube!

I bet your little one will be fine with your filter - with a bit of care and some acclimation.... If you wish, drop a piece of needlepoint plastic into a piece of nylon hose and tie that over your intake. The plastic will hold the hose off the intake and act to prevent a small fish from getting stuck.

Sounds like a sweet little fish - I look forward to pictures. smile.gif
