Well, all my triops recently died of a mysterios disease, so I was thinking that once I take out the last dead triop (oops, should have done that 3 or 4 days ago but kept forgetting, darn my terrible memory) I could clean out and disinfect the tank. If I decide to hatch more triops, i'll put them in an icecream pail. So I told my mom that Im getting a third betta. She doesnt seem to agree with that, but she doesnt really have a choice, cause Im getting one and thats final lol. I think Im gonna get a yellow one this time, i've dreamed of having a yellow betta for months now. My mother will just have to deal with it, she also doesnt want me to get her a betta for christmas, but too bad, I will anyway, i told her she'd be more relaxed hehehe. Anyway, the tank is a purple 1/2 gallon, maybe I should put my purple betta in there and the new one in his tank.....I might, but I'll probably be too lazy to bother moving Floppy lol.
I would say 1/2 gallon is too small for a betta. I know some people say 1 gallon is the minimum, but I wouldn't even keep a betta in a 1 gallon. 3-6 gallons is a much more suitable size in my opinion. Easier to heat and more swimming room. My betta is in a 5 gallon and uses all his tank. I kept him in a 1gallon for a month when I had no place to live and he seemed to hate it. Was much less active and lost some colour.

my rule is no less than 1/2 gallon, I know that more is better, but my other betta is living in a 1/2 gallon tank, and another in a 1/2-1 gallon bowl, and they are both thriving. Both are happy and active, I think I take pretty good care of them, if they would seem unhappy i'd get them a bigger tank, but they defianently seem happy

And this is also alot better than what they're kept in at the petstores

I have the tank all cleaned out now and I also disinfected it, so it should be ready for a betta now
