Iv'e got those penguine 350 filters on my tanks.. I run a few filters per tank for good filtration.. But ive noticed that Peachy's poop is short and thick from the spinach she gets and the poop isnt going into the bottom of the filter i usually have to take the tip off and bring it to the end and suck off anything thats caught on the tips.. why dont they make the holes bigger? The poop would go into the filter better.. maybe its just the penguines that have such small holes?.. anyways, my tubes go all the way to bottom of tank its just the holes are not big enough to suck in the poo...GRRR...

I wonder if you could retro fit it with something that has bigger holes? Or maybe take a piece of PVC pipe and drill holes the size you want and put that on the end of your pipes???

The slits in the grid ends of the intake tube are designed with tropicals in mind - once again ignoring the goldie people!!!! rolleyes.gif

I usually do not worry about it. The poos are crumbly and will only stick for a short time before they crumble and are sucked up into the filter. I did take a pair of wire nippers and clip off every other plastic grid piece on one intake grid. That makes the holes twice as wide as they were before. I only did it on the bottom of the grid. It works well, too.

I have the same filters, and the same problem! haha... a few years back, i just took a box cutter and cut out some of the little plastic pieces on the strainer on the end.....this way, in some places, it has bigger holes...i made 2 bigger holes on each of the long sides, one on each short side, and one in the bottom of it....it works just fine for me. Some of the poo still kinda just gets stuck on the strainer, but eventually it goes in.
