hi my common goldfish is missing patches of scales on his body and im worried what it could be, if anyone has any information about the missing scales please tell me thank you.

Missing scales are often one of the first signs of stress and or poor water. Could you fill in the answers to the questions in the blue box about your fish and his tank that are in the pinned box in the diagnosis forum. You'll get better help then.

Yes, missing scales are often a signal that something is not quite right in a tank. But they also could be a result of a mechanical injury. Scales that are scraped off on sharp tank decor or in a breeding frenzy will grow back, given pristine water. Opportunisitic parasites and diseases often find missing scales to be an invitation to attack, so care and observation is important.
Because extra squeaky clean water is essential for proper healing, it is important that you test your water.... if you post up your test results, we can help you determine what else, if anything, needs to be done to help your fish recover.
