Ok, I got 2 new fish from wallyworld and one is very, very sick! I'll explain how this happended since I usually dont buy fish from wallyworld anymore. Ok, anyway, I told my mom that I need to get new frineds for Stripe really soon cause I cant stand seeing him so sad and lonely. She said we could stop by a little petstore and see if they have any. So we went but they didnt have any tiger barbs at the moment. Then my mom said that we're going to wallyworld and I told her Im not getting fis there again. About 5 minutes later I stopedand thought, then decided that maybe I should get fish there, only because Stripe is so lonely, that poor fish. So then we went to wallyworld and I looked at the tigerbarbs, immediately I noticed a little albino one that had finrot, he barely had any fins left and his tail was completely gone, so I went looking for my mother to tell her that I found a fish that I wanted, so she came and looked at it. She let me buy it, eventhough she thought I should get a healthy one. Then when I told the guy I wanted the one without a tail he looked at me and asked why I wanted that one since it would be dead the next day anyway. So I told him that I wanted to rescue it, so while he was closing the bag I went over to look at the goldfish. This guy was new here and obliously knew nothing about fish, cause then he asked if i'd like to get some goldfish, he said that they might get along with the barbs since the goldfish are friendly and he thought I should try it. I wanted to tell him that tropicals and goldfish shouldnt be mixed but instead I just said I didnt have room for goldfish and left. So I came home with an almost dead albino barb and a rather healthy looking green tiger barb. I put them in a 2 gallon bucket with some gravel that I had taken out of my 46 gallon, that was just to make sure its cycled. Then I put my aquatech 5-15 filter on te bucket and added salt. I have 4 medications, all treat finrot, but I decided to go with maracyn 2, since thats the best one I had. Now its day 3 of the medication and the fish is doing fine, excpet the fact that he isnt really eating much. Is there anything else I can do to help this little guy?

Treat for parasites too shamu. As for food try blood worms in moderation. Most fish love em and will eat them even when sick. Just be careful not to over do it.

ok, thanks for the advice, i'll try bloodworms. Freeze dried ok? I'll treat them for parasites after their maracyn 2 treatment is done, then i'll move them into Stripes tank and treat for parasites. Im still wondering about Stripe, that little guy is like invincible! He's the only one of my first fish that survived, and when all others keep getting sick and dying he's fine! Never once has anything hurt him, even 2 sick wallywolrd fish that died the next day didnt affect him, how does he do it?

Freeze dried is fine just soak the for 10 to 15min. The softer food will be easier on a sick fish's tummy. You're welcome!

I really hope the little guy makes it, he's a tough little fishie, the wallyworld guy thought that he was gonna die, I hope I can prove him wrong, and Stripe would be ssssooo happy with these guys. He used to be this vicious killer fish, but after being alone for so long he's such a sweet little fish, would never even think of trying to hurt another fishie
