Hey guys, I'm looking to get either a Fluval 204 or a Whisper 60 for my 40 gallon tank.

Which would be the better solution? The Fluval Cannister has a lower GPH than the Whisper 60, but I intend on having a planted tank.

Go for the one which has a larger matrix even if the GPH is lower, a thorough cleaning is better then a half done job.

Personally, I am about the only one that will tell you to buy a Whisper. If I was you I would get the Whisper 60, seems like a perfect choice. I love my Whispers, but I shall shut up now because everyone hates Whisper and probably hates me telling good things about them, even though they don't realize that Whisper makes Penguin and Emperor, too.
