Does anyone have experience with gold cardinals? We just got some in for the first time in the store I work at. They seemed to acclimate just great and we haven't lost a single one. I have an empty 36 gallon (other than a long finned bristlenose pleco) and they're so stunning I am thinking about going community with them, some glass cats, etc. However, since I haven't had much experience with these guys nor have my coworkers, I wondered if anyone here has. If so, are they as hardy as standard cardinals? Any info on them is appreciated smile.gif

well gold are that colour because of where they are captured from in the wild the skin parasite in there environment, the parasites are not harmful to your tank. Captive bred gold tetras offspring will not be gold dusty coloured skin like its parents. They are just as hardy as the neons and adapt well. They eat flakes as well as blood worms and brine shrimp. My friend has a few of these fish and have a great colour too bad there babies dont get it in captivity. There AA hardy

actually I think Susan is referring to the gold-colored xanthic cultivated form of the cardinal. I've seen xanthic versions of the lemon, congo, and neon tetra as well.

if that's the case i would surmise that the "gold" cardinal would just be as hardy as its normally-colored counterparts, ifnot hardier (being captive-bred and -developed). Are they priced higher than the standard cardinal?
