Hi,
I am still in cornwall. I am getting my puffer in about 1 week and I'm very pleased. I have got a blue night light for the tank so I can see him when I have to turn off my lights. My friend Tom wants to join and go onto the marine section. He is 8 so he will be the youngest on the board! I will test my water and tell u the results.
Bye

Hi Inkfish
Hope you're having a good time in Cornwall! Say hello to your Mum for us (Pixiefish)
Are you getting your Puffer from Tri-Mar in Cornwall - they have great stock there?
I don't know much else about them but I know you've been looking into getting one for a while now. Anyway, best of luck with it! Looking forward to pictures!

Hi,
Yes, I have got a tank for my puffer, it is a 64 l tank. It is small but I will put him into a 45 gal when it's needed.

Hi again,
Water test results:
Ammonia: 0.0
Nitrite: 0.0
Nitrate: 200+
PH: 8.0
SG: 1.005
I know the SG is kinda low but I'll fix that. I'm doing a almost full water change today.
Someone told me that Boo will need fake plants to hide in, so tomorrow I will go and get him some. Mom is friendly with the shop manager, and he's gonna let me have the one in the display tank. For some reason they take better care of the fish in the display tank, so I'll be getting a healthy fish, unlike the ones in the sale section. ( One of the puffers there has turned black, which is a sign of illness
) Don't get me wrong though, it's a good fish shop, but the guy in charge of the 'puffers for sale' section is not that reliable. We've salted the water to the same level as the LFS so as not to stress him, but once he's aclimatized we will slowly start to raise the salt.
I'v got a puffer link for anyone who wants to look at it.

Hi inkfish
Looks like you're almost there! You and your Mum seem to have planned and prepared very well
Looks like you have a good solid cycle going on there, once you've got the nitrAtes diluted right down, you just keep the cycle ticking over until Boo arrives and monitor it closely for the first couple of weeks or so as it adapts to the bio-load of the puffer.
I don't know much about Brackish tanks - I know how you manage the salinity, but what about the Ph - does the salt bump up the pH alone or do you have to add something to make it more alkaline?
It's very exciting! Looking forward to Pictures when he's settled!

Hi,
Thanx for replying.
Well, I've got something nice to tell you. I got 2 mollies to help build the bio filter.
They are soo cute. I have called the orange one papaya and the chocolate one coconut. I know I shouldn't get too close to them because I have to bring them back to the fish shop.
The shop manager, (Steven - moms friend ) loaned us the mollies. And, just so you know, I didn't put them in at Nitrate 200+, I put them in at 50.

I got the nitrate score wrong - it was actually 40, not 50. Mum said that is as low as we can get it right now as the tap water reading is 40 at the moment. The LFS are going to go RO because of this problem,

Hi,
Wohoo! He's in the tank!!!! I

him so much!
When we first put him in, he was very nervous and his tail curled sideways like a puppy. We gave him bloodworms and then he calmed down a bit.
I will be sending pics soon. I am getting myself a digital camera tomorrow. Look in the photo section in a couple of days and Boo will in there.
