I've had 2 babies from the spawing 2 years ago that have been sold black until now. They are both now almost completely orange, but no comet orange like many of the other babies. They are a prettier shade of orange and looking at them closely last night I noticed that their scales are Koi scales and not comet scales (if that makes sense). So when they spawned last year could the Koi have helped create what I thought were just comet, sarasa comet and shubunkin babies? They are very pretty fish (I'll have to try and get some pictures).

It is very Possible.....I have heard many times before that Koi and Goldies will SPawn together....Do the babies have any Koi whiskers on them....???...Would love to see some pics...~ogr

No whiskers that I can see but they are different than the others. I'll try and get pictures of them.

Koi and goldfish do spawn together. I have seen the hybrids before and they definitely look different than standard goldfish. They have a different shape altogether. They always look to me more like standard carp than koi, I guess their genes reverting back to the natural state.

Usually the hybrids I see aren't very attractive colors, so I will be interested to see what yours look like!
