we weren't gone for more than a week but my husband was home and he took care of it. he said that she wasn't really eating the food he had given her and was just sort of sitting at the bottom in the rocks. i think i will take him and olive(the betta) to the fish store tomorrow.

Jilliebillie- can you check this link and see if you can get some meds for your bettas symptoms. First port of call with a sick fish is always a large water change. I don't have much experience with bettas - hopefully someone who does will come along later today.Wishing you the best outcome

The majority of problems are water-quality related. Have you changed the water since you've been back home?

We need to know a little more about your setup really.

Tank size/water volume?
How often do you change the water and how much? When did you last water change?
Do you use a water conditioner?
Is this a cycled or uncycled setup? (is there a functioning biological filter or do you just water change alone?) What is the name and size of any filter
Test Results for the Following if you have a filter:
Ammonia Level?
Nitrite Level?
Nitrate level?
Ph Level?
Any medications added to the tank recently?
What do you feed your fish?

A picture would be helpful too smile.gif

yup all the things Mr.B is asking for would help us out. I would definitely do a hundred percent water change. What temp is his water? How big of a container is he in? Is his container heated?
