Ok, there are these things in my triops tank, they look like hollow triops! There are about 3 and each one is smaller than the other, Im starting to think that maybe my little guy has been molting? After all, he is a crustacean. Do they eat their shell like some crabs? Cause it looks like he's been eating some of it, since there are some pieces missing. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Hi Shamu23! Yes Triops do molt. I'm not sure about them eating their exoskeleton though. Hopefully someone will come along and confirm that information for you biggrin.gif

ok thanks, that explains all those hollow triops LOL

I have seen mine eating parts of its molted shell just like shrimps do. They are more likely to do this when there is not another source of calcium in the tank.
