I was at my lfs getting some plants and saw a tank of very pretty fish but the tank didn't have the proper information label. It just had a sticker that said something like headlight, lamphead or torchlight, or torchhead. something like that anyway.

The fish were small, about 1.5 cm (but they may have been young). They were slim bodied, similar to a neon tetra (but smaller). Their bodies were quite dark and they had a very bright neon orange bit on their head at the front. I've done some google searches of all the names above, but haven't found the fish I saw. They weren't rummy-nosed tetras or head-and-tail-light tetras.

Does anyone have idea what type of fish they may? I got distracted by the plants and forgot to ask about them, and the lfs is about an hour and a half away from me. I'd like to do some research on this fish because if they stay small I might get some depending on their needs.

I don't know what kind of fish they are, but you could always phome your LFS and ask them questions about them.

From the description I'd guess rummynose. From the names you came up with though, could it have been young lampeye tetras?

Head-and-Tail lights?

there's also a type of Guinean killie called lamp-eyes.

glowlight tetras maybe?
