Ok, Im hoping to get a 350 gallon pond next year and here is my plan, tell me if its a good plan or bad. Ok, so I wanted to give each fish at least 30 gallons, so a total of 11 fish (that way I also have space for 1 or 2 more fish in emergency). I was thinking 3 commons, 4 comets, and 4 shubbies. Sound good? What about plants? Which ones would do well in a pond here?

Sounds pretty good maybe less fish as goldies breed like rabbits in ponds. I reccomend water hycanith or water lettuce and I even have a neat plant called a golden sword. Maybe some lilies to.

You could get a water lily or two and maybe a water iris. Submerged plants like anacharis will provide spawning area.
Water hyacinth lives only in the summer in your pond. You throw it away after the first frost in the fall, then buy more in the spring. It's a great plant and you'll want a couple to help shade the surface of the pond. It grows quickly, so buy just two or three at the beginning of the season.
Your fish plan sounds really good too. They will breed and you'll have to rehome some of the babies. I had to rehome about 40 babies last summer, after 14 years of having my pond. I don't raise the fry inside, so I usually only get a few babies that make it to maturity in my pond. The fish load has grown gradually over the years.

i think that is a great plan to go for. hmmm, i am trying to find your plant hardiness zone, that will help you find what plant could thrive in your area. i am GUESSING that you are in zone 3. the zones are depending on your lowest average annual temperature, if you can tell the average temperature you get in winter, i can figure it out for sure..
these are some plant info and zone maps sites

thanks! Yeah, I think were in zone 3, I live pretty much as far south as u can go in manitoba, close to Emerson which is pretty much right on the border to the US. I was thinking of getting some wakins, since I saw some pretty ones, and by comets I meant normal ones and sarasa ones, they're so pretty. I'll think about the plants, thanks for the links! Do wakins do well with single tailed goldies?

Wakins are similar to comets just a different tail...they are just as fast and compete for food equally
